How to Check a China HCP Sample Before You Field: Verification and Quality Questions Buyers Should Ask
When a China healthcare study goes wrong, the problem is rarely the questionnaire. More often it shows up at reconciliation: a respondent whose specialty doesn't match the screener, two completes that look suspiciously alike, or open ends that say nothing. By then the field window is gone.
Most of that risk can be checked before launch. If you buy online quantitative HCP sample in China, these are the questions worth asking any supplier, and how we answer them at Youli.
1. How is a physician verified, and when?
"Verified" can mean anything from a self-declared profile to a checked licence. Ask what is checked, against what, and whether the result is recorded.
At Youli, physician credentials are verified manually in-house. Licences or qualifications are cross-checked against official or hospital information, workplace details are checked, and each review outcome is recorded with a date. Non-physician members (nurses, pharmacists, technicians) receive checks appropriate to their profession.
2. How old is that verification?
A doctor verified three years ago may have changed hospital, department or role. Ask how often profiles are maintained.
We review HCP profiles every 6 months, and we reconfirm the eligibility conditions that matter for each study during recruitment, so a respondent qualifies on today's facts, not last year's.
3. How are duplicates caught?
One person holding two accounts is a classic way for a sample to look bigger than it is. Ask which identifiers are compared and whether anyone looks at possible matches.
We check phone number, name and practice details, and possible duplicates go to manual review rather than being decided by a script alone.
4. What happens during fieldwork?
Panel-level checks are only half the job. Ask what is monitored while the survey is live. Typical controls include:
- Completion time against the expected length of interview
- Logic and consistency checks across key answers
- Repeat participation in similar studies
- Open-response quality
We set these rules per study, based on questionnaire length, pilot or soft-launch results and the client's own requirements, rather than one fixed threshold for everything.
5. What happens before data is delivered?
Ask how exclusions are decided and how replacements work. Before delivery we do a manual review, remove completes that fail the agreed rules, provide replacements as agreed with the client, and reconcile counts with the client so both sides close on the same number.
Members who cause quality issues are recorded, and depending on severity their invitations are restricted, or they are suspended or removed from the panel.
6. Where does the sample actually come from?
Quality starts with recruitment sources. Ours are direct contact, medical conferences, referrals, online advertising and professional communities. As of September 30, 2026, our China healthcare panel lists 34,095 healthcare members, including 31,280 physicians across 16 specialties; 73.3% work in tertiary hospitals and 50.8% are in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou or Shenzhen.
Those numbers describe the panel, not what any one study can reach. Real feasibility depends on specialty, seniority, quotas and timing, which is why we scope it per RFQ.
A short pre-field checklist
Before you sign off a China HCP field plan, make sure you know:
- What credential evidence was checked, and the date it was last reviewed
- How duplicates are detected
- Which in-field checks apply to your survey, and the speeding threshold
- How exclusions and replacements are agreed
- How final counts are reconciled
If a supplier can answer all five clearly, you are far less likely to discover a sample problem after the field has closed.
